Click Keep to use the new resolution, or click Revert to go back to the. Click the drop-down list next to Resolution, move the slider to the resolution you want, and then click Apply. Open the game and see if your native resolution is now listed. Open Screen Resolution by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, and then, under Appearance and Personalization, clicking Adjust screen resolution. If you now see one or two resolutions listed in the "Predefined and Custom HDTV Formats" section, you may be ready to go. Since my monitor's native specs are 1920x1080 I choose "Add 1080p60 format to Display Manager (NTSC)."

What I want is a virtual resolution where the driver tricks games/Windows into rendering at a given resolution, but handles the downsampling back to a 1080p output to match that of the display. Probotector, this code adds resolution 2560x1600. Moreover, I have a feeling that both the Custom Resolution tool of the driver and CRU are attempting to create new " physical" resolutions, which attempts to effectively drive the display at those resolutions.

But even then it didn't work, and adding an intermediary resolution (2304x1296 for example) to the pool of available resolutions was met with the display being "out of range" upon reboot, even though Windows was still set to 1080p.

What about CRU (Custom Resolution Utility) ?Īs much as I'd rather do this natively with the drivers I have also tried with CRU.

I suspect that's because the values in the other boxes don't automatically change to match and display timings that would fit the new resolution, but I haven't got a clue as to what I should put there. To change the resolution of your Windows 10 PC screen by using the AMD catalyst control center, follow the steps listed below: Right-click on your desktop. When I try and change values in those boxes and try to save, it systematically says that the "settings aren't compatible with the display".

You know of the "Custom Resolution" utility within the driver right ? I know this is extremely easy to do with Nvidia GPUs (I just helped a friend create a 1600p resolution to try and up his downsampling game and have something in between 1440p and 4K), but I can't replicate that on my AMD GPU. And my old R9 280X isn't always enough to drive games at 1440p (the max VSR resolution it supports), so I'd like to have some steps in-between that and 1080p : think 1200p/1300p or something. So I was looking into custom resolutions for fortnite and one of the steps was to make custom rez using your AMD settings, so I went in there and I didn't see the 'Create a custom resolution.' I have been looking everywhere and trying everything to fix this but nothing seems to work. While VSR does that exactly and works perfectly, there's only the option to run games at 1440p with it. Sometimes, I want to run a game at a resolution higher than 1080p to benefit from downsampling, and thus anti-aliasing and sharper image.
